A teenager who was stopped by police as he drove a tractor around a city centre told officers that he was out “looking for women”, a court heard.
Anthony Breslin was seen driving the vehicle just before midnight.
When the 18-year-old was stopped by police he claimed he was using it for “social reasons rather than for agricultural reasons”.
He added that he was driving around the city centre “to see if there were any women about”.
Breslin has now admitted two motoring offences linked to his late night tractor drive, Belfast Live reports.
The teen was stopped as he drove around Derry on August 16.
A solicitor for the Public Prosecution Service told District Judge Michael Ranaghan that Breslin was seen driving the tractor around the city centre streets at Foyle Street, Shipquay Street, Ferryquay Street and Orchard Street just before midnight.
When stopped by police officers, Breslin, from Burnfoot, Co Donegal, told them he was “using it for social purposes in that he was driving around the city centre to see if there were any women about”, the prosecutor said.
Breslin, who was a learner driver at the time, drove the tractor without L plates being displayed on the vehicle or an accompanied qualified driver.
