Young drivers could be banned from driving at night after passing their tests. Yes, a new ‘graduated driving license’ could see new road users barred from driving after dark for up to two years.

The licence plans could be introduced in a bid to slash the number of young drivers dying on UK roads. Prime Minister Theresa May hinted that the plans would be reviewed. As well as banning young drivers after dark, the new system could also restrict the engine size allowed for new drivers in hopes of stopping ‘boy racers’ on roads.

The drink drive limit may also be slashed for the first 24 months – meaning drivers wouldn’t legally be able to drive after an alcoholic drink. Similar schemes are currently in place in the likes of Australia, New Zealand and the US – where new drivers cannot carry passengers under-25 unless supervised.
