Drivers are being warned about sharing certain information related to their driving licence online as it could lead to criminals target the fraudulently.
The DVLA is running a campaign which is to educate people on the dangers of sharing personal information and documents online.
For example posting your driving licence pass certificate could give a criminal some vital information, which they could then use fraudulently.
The message from the DVLA is being pushed out to coincide with Safer Internet Day and as part of an ongoing campaign to warn against the potential risks of online fraud.
Normally tech-savvy younger drivers – for whom posting on social media is a way of life – may risk setting themselves up as a prime target for fraudulent activity.
DVLA is warning drivers that photos they post innocently on social media could carry information invaluable to fraudsters and those who collect personal data for the purposes of crime.
