Other professions which were highlighted as having particularly dangerous motorists include car dealers, tree surgeons and workers who load and unload goods. Loaders were seen as the most likely profession to pick up a charge as they secured a driving offence rate of 7.21 per 1,000 drivers according to the data from MoneySuperMarket.
Car dealers were second in the rankings with an average of 4.06 motorists committing an offence per 1,000 road users in the trade.
Priests recorded an average of 2.76 offences per 1,000 drivers as barmen recorded a 2.41 offence rate.
Surprising offenders were medical advisors who recorded an offence rate of 2.75 per 1,000 motorists and mechanical technicians with a figure of 2.14.
The survey also revealed lawyers and headteachers are among the safest road users in the country.
