Generally speaking newly qualified drivers have never driven on a motorway before and have little experience of driving at high speeds. We recommend all students consider some form of motorway lessons, in order to prepare the different types driving conditions they will face. Surrey Driving Force offer motorway lessons in Guildford, designed to develop the skills required for safe and confident motorway driving.
The importance of learning the correct driving techniques on the motorway has been enhanced by the news that the Police are going to be especially vigilant in regards to motorway users.
Motorway middle-lane hoggers to face on-the-spot fines
“Motorway tailgaters and middle-lane hoggers are to face quick justice with on-the-spot penalties under new measures announced by the government. From July, police will be able to issue £100 fines and three points for careless driving offences that would currently have to go to court.
The idea is to target offenders without the need for lengthy court procedures. Current fixed penalties for using a phone while driving or not wearing a seatbelt will also rise by £40 to £100.”

Motorway Lessons To Suit Your Requirements
Whilst it is true that motorways are statistically the safest type of roads in the UK, with collisions being far fewer in number when compared to other road types, they usually involve larger numbers of vehicles.
It is often the diversity of the different vehicle types encountered on motorways that unprepared drivers find hard to cope with, as well as a different style of driving being required. Add this to poor weather conditions and the risk of incident becomes much greater.
Our motorway lessons are geared to your requirements and can cover the following:
- Safely entering and leaving the motorway
- Keeping safe distances
- Using lanes correctly
- Overtaking
- Keeping aware of other road users and antipating potential hazards
- How to cope in an emergency
- Driving in bad weather conditions
