A good driver instinctively knows that there is always more to learn and although we understand that as a newly qualified driver, the very last thing most people want to do after finishing their driving lessons is start again, that could actually be the best thing that you could do!!
Learning Vital Skills
Unfortunately, it is impossible to escape the fact that as a new driver, you are far more likely to have an accident than at any other time in your motoring career. Young new drivers hold approximately 10% of all licences, but they are involved in 20% of road accidents in which someone is injured.
Lack of experience means that you can be as much as TWO SECONDS slower than a more practised motorist and in driving terms that is an eternity.
Gaining Valuable Experience
By completing the Pass Plus course, you will be able to gain valuable experience by expanding your driving skills that would otherwise take a much longer to acquire. By the time you have completed your training you will be a better and safer driver.
How Does The Pass Plus Work?
Pass Plus training takes at least 6 hours and includes 6 different modules:
- Driving in town
- Driving in all weathers
- Driving on rural roads
- Driving at night
- Driving on dual carriageways
- Driving on motorways
All modules will be practical sessions, although local conditions may dictate that some are theory based. Generally you will spend at least 5.5 hours driving and the good news is that you won’t have to take a test at the end as you are continually assessed throughout the duration of the course. To pass you’ll have to reach the required standard in all modules.
Insurance Discounts!
You’ll be sent a Pass Plus certificate after you’ve successfully finished your training. You’ll need this when applying for a car insurance discount.
Once you’ve completed the Pass Plus there is a good chance that you will be eligible for a significant car insurance discount. You’ll need your Pass Plus certificate. Check with insurers that you can still get a discount if you passed your practical driving test more than a year ago. The amount of discount depends on the insurance company. Not all insurers offer Pass Plus discounts.
You may even be able to put the discount on hold for up to 2 years if you don’t have a car at the moment – check with the insurance company first.
