Why you should never listen to loud music in your car as you could be fined £100

DRIVERS could be fined for listening to loud music in their car and this is why.

Motorists are being warned that they should not listen to loud music in their car as it could land them a fine.

A common upgrade among younger drivers is equipping huge speakers into the car and many luxury cars now come with premium audio systems.

There is no law that prevents motorists from playing music on their car but it could still land the motorist in trouble.

Rule 148 of the Highway Code outlines things drivers should avoid doing on the road to avoid distraction.

“Avoid distractions when driving or riding such as loud music (this may mask other sounds), trying to read maps, inserting a cassette or CD or tuning a radio, arguing with your passengers or other road users, eating and drinking and smoking,” it reads.

Local authorities have the power to take action against motorists listening to loud music if parked on private land or consistently on one street.

In addition to this, a police officer could pull you over or have a word with you if the car is stationary and give you a warning.

If the music can be deemed a distraction or the motorist ignores the warning then they could be handed a £100 fine.
