The article went on to say that ‘British motorists could save up to £84 a year if they just turned off their engines when stationary or drove in the right gear.’
‘Researchers have found that on average British drivers are spending over £700 million a year on their fuel bills – money that could be saved if they drove more efficiently.’
‘Over 636 million litres of petrol are wasted every year in the UK because over a third of 
British drivers do not use eco-friendly driving techniques, such as using the handbrake while waiting at traffic lights and ensuring they are driving in the correct gear.’
