nationwide pavement parking ban is currently being considered by the Government.

Authorities want drivers to clampdown on the level of motorists parking on the pavement as it can cause problems for pedestrians, particularly vulnerable members of society, and can turbocharge wear of the kerb.

A number of forces in the UK have started issuing fines to drivers for offences but no official ban has been confirmed.

Currently, it is only illegal to park on the pavement in London, while the Highway Code outlines the motorists ‘should not’ across the rest of the country.

However, Scotland has announced that it is looking to shortly impose a ban on pavement parking.

New research has, however, suggested that the majority of British drivers don’t want to be banned from parking on the pavement.

The shocking survey by YourParkingSpace.co.uk reveals that 55 per cent of respondents don’t want motorists to be banned from parking their cars on the pavement.

Around a quarter of those surveyed justified one of the reasons for parking on the pavement as a means to avoid blocking the road.
